European Innovation Council (EIC) >

The EIC has a budget of about €10.1 billion for 2021-2027. It supports deep-tech start-ups, SMEs and breakthrough technologies from early research to scale-up.

Horizon Europe >

The EU’s flagship programme for 2021-2027, with a total budget of approximately €95.5 billion. It supports excellent science, global challenges and market-creating innovation.

European Innovation Ecosystems (EIE) >

Focused on strengthening and connecting innovation ecosystems across Europe—including SMEs, RTOs and regional players. With a budget of ca. €0.5 billion for 2021-2027, it targets digital transformation and green growth.

Innovation Fund >

With an overall volume in the tens of billions of euros over 2020-2030, one recent call scheduled around €4.6 billion for proposals. It focuses on clean tech, industry decarbonisation and commercialisation.

Interregional Innovation Investments Instrument (I3) >

Supports inter-regional innovation investments (TRL 6-9) and value-chain development across European regions. For 2021-2027 the budget is over €490 million, and per-project funding up to ~€10 million.

EIC Pathfinder >

A component of the EIC designed for early-stage research in breakthrough technologies. Grants typically up to €3-4 million per project, aimed at radical innovation and long-term impact.

Erasmus+ >

The budget for the 2021–2027 cycle is approximately €26.2 billion.  Erasmus and its successor programmes have supported millions of participants: by 2024, over 15 million people had taken part.

European Defence Fund >

With a €7.95 billion budget for 2021–2027, it funds cross-border projects that drive innovation in key defence areas such as cyber, space, air, land, and naval systems.

European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) >

A major instrument for investment in people: employment, education, skills, social inclusion. For 2021–2027 it has €10 billion focusing on human capital.

Made Smarter Innovation >

UK initiative to accelerate digital transformation in the manufacturing and industrial sectors—promoting smart technologies, automation and “Industry 4.0” adoption in UK production.

UK Invest 2035 >

With a focus on long-term investment and innovation goals up to 2035, this strategy aims to attract capital, support R&D, and strengthen digital and industrial capabilities.

Strength in Places Fund (SIPF)>

Supports research & innovation to drive regional economic growth across the UK. It has committed approximately £314 million to full‑stage projects.
